Fairfax County Consolidated Community Advisory Committee (CCFAC) - Notice of Public Hearing
FAIRFAX COUNTY CONSOLIDATED COMMUNITY ADVISORY COMMITTEE (CCFAC) WANTS YOUR HELP IN PLANNING FOR HOUSING AND HUMAN SERVICE PROGRAMS FOR FISCAL YEAR 2012
Notice of Public Hearing
Tuesday, Nov. 9 at 7:30 p.m.
12000 Government Center Parkway, Conference Rooms 9 & 10
Fairfax, Virginia 22035
The CCFAC invites you to participate in a public hearing to help identify housing and other human service needs to be addressed in the Fairfax County Consolidated Plan One-Year Action Plan for FY 2012 (July 1, 2011-June 30, 2012). The final plan will be approved by the Board of Supervisors and submitted to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in May 2011.
The hearing is open to the public and the CCFAC is particularly interested in hearing from residents who are in need of housing or other services; local non-profit, faith-based or private enterprise providers of direct services to low-income individuals and families; and advocates for such services.
Participants will have an opportunity to make presentations to the CCFAC about the housing, community development and human services needs of the county, including fair housing, as well as to provide input on how well the county is performing in meeting these needs. The CCFAC anticipates that budgets will continue to be tight in FY 2012 and therefore is requesting feedback concerning the impact of a tight budget on programs and services. Although the CCFAC invites input on any topic, presentations on specific topics and issues related to the following are encouraged:
• How do you
foresee the needs of the community changing?
• How do you and/or your organization plan to shift your emphasis in response to the changing conditions, needs and resources? Do you have any recommendations for what the community should do to respond to these changing needs?
• With limited resources, the natural tendency is to prioritize immediate needs over long-term needs. How would you address this balance in terms of program areas such as prevention?
Note: The public hearing is not for the purpose of obtaining specific requests for funding.
This public hearing is being held to receive comments on Fairfax County’s Consolidated Plan performance and to receive public input on housing and community development needs in Fairfax County for the development of the Fairfax County Consolidated Plan One-Year Action Plan for FY 2012. The Consolidated Plan is a federal requirement from HUD that combines the broad planning requirements of the National Affordable Housing Act of 1990 with the annual applications and reporting for the HUD-funded programs that are administered by Fairfax County. Information from this public hearing also will be a resource for the development of funding priorities for the county’s Consolidated Community Funding Pool, a competitive contract award process for eligible programs and activities conducted by community-based organizations, and be used to educate the residents of Fairfax County concerning community needs. The Consolidated Plan One-Year Action Plan for FY 2011 is available from Savi Singh at the contact information below.
Anyone wishing to speak at the public hearing should call Savi Singh, 703-246-5170 TTY 703-385-3578 or e-mail at email@example.com to be placed on the speakers list.
