Welcome to the Homeownership & Relocation Services Division Web Site
The Homeownership & Relocation Services Division is the unit of the Fairfax County Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) that is charged with bringing affordable homebuying opportunities to Fairfax County's eligible first-time homebuyers. The Homeownership Division provides homebuyer counseling, hosts homebuying education classes, and has programs that offer affordably priced homes, mortgage and downpayment and closing cost assistance.

Programs and Services

Homeownership Resource Center
The Homeownership Resource Center (AKA "the Storefront") provides access to both computers and staff members to help first-time homebuyers in their home search. The Storefront is located in the Redevelopment Housing Authority Building at 3700 Pender Drive, Fairfax, Virginia. Directions to 3700 Pender Drive

Hours of Operation
9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Monday to Friday*
*except Wednesdays;
hours 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

 

First-Time Homebuyers Program
The FTHB is a component of the Affordable Dwelling Unit Program (ADU) and provides homeownership opportunities to moderate income households. More information about applying to the First-Time Homebuyers Program.

Homebuyer Education
Virginia Housing Development Authority (VHDA) homeownership Education classes hosted by Fairfax County and its homebuyer education partners.

Homebuyer Equity Loan Program (HELP)
Please note that this program is being offered to certain priority categories who purchase foreclosed properties. Please see information for the Silver Lining Initiative.

Home Stride
No Home Stride funds were allocated for FY 2009.

Sponsoring Partnerships and Revitalizing Communities (SPARC)
First trust mortgage financing at 1% or ½% below the current Virginia Housing Development Authority (VHDA) loan rate.

** SPARC is currently available **
Starting August 1, 2008 reservations will be accepted towards the allocation of $16,000,000 that has been awarded to Fairfax County. This includes $12 million of 1/2% below the current VHDA interest rate and $4 million at 1% below the applicable interest rate.
