Financial Literacy
The Northern Virginia Urban League offers the six week Credit
Smart classes in Alexandria. Classes will be held at the South
County Government Center, 8350 Richmond Highway, 2nd floor conference
center, Alexandria, VA 22309. For more information and to reserve a

CEELOBA@hotmail.com. In order to get a certificate, attendees
must complete the entire series. This is a financial literacy
partnership with the Fairfax County Department of Human Services and the
Homeownership and Relocation Services Division of the Fairfax County
Department of Housing and Community Development.

- Establishing and Maintaining Good Credit; Avoiding Credit Traps
- Managing Your Money; Goal Setting; Banking Services--An Important Step
- Thinking Like a Lender
- Becoming a Homeowner
- Preserving Homeownership; Protecting Your Investment
Our Daily Bread, Inc.
Our Daily Bread, Inc. offers free Financial Counseling Clinics
(FCCs). Clients who attend an FCC have the opportunity to pull a
free credit report and receive one-on-one financial counseling. ODB also
offers “Shape Up Your Finances-Thrifty Thursday” budgeting classes on the
third Thursday of each month at different locations around the county.
There is also a financial mentoring program. ODB uses FDIC Money Smart
curricula in the budgeting classes and in their financial mentoring
