Community Meeting Held June 1; Comments Due June 16, 2017

Supervisor Pat Herrity and Fairfax County Department of Transportation (FCDOT) held a public meeting regarding the Burke Road Realignment Project on Thursday, June 1, 2017, at 7 p.m., in the West Springfield Governmental Center, 6140 Rolling Road, Springfield, Va

Local residents and other interested parties are invited to review project (see exhibits and presentation links below) and submit comments by the close of business, Friday, June 16, 2017. Project Background

The proposed improvements will realign Burke Road, and raise the roadway to help improve safety and minimize roadway flooding. The project includes roadway reconstruction, new pedestrian and bicycle connections and replacing the existing drainage pipe to improve water flow below the road. The total project length is approximately 2,200 feet along Burke Road from Parakeet Drive to Peregrine Drive. The $7.0 million budget for the project will come from the Six Year Transportation Project Priorities FY2015 through FY2020.

Tentative Project Schedule

  • Design Completion – Fall 2018
  • Land Acquisition Completion – Winter 2019
  • Utility Relocation Completion – Fall 2019
  • Begin Construction – Spring 2020
  • Complete Construction – Fall 2020
