2011 Summer Meals Program for Kids Needs Meal Sites and Volunteers

In Fairfax County, approximately 44,000 kids receive free and reduced meals during the school year. For many of these kids, when the school year ends, so does the opportunity for consistent, nutritious meals. Fortunately, there is a program that provides nutritious meals to children during the summer.  Neighborhood and Community Services, in partnership with the USDA and local organizations provides free, nutritious breakfasts and lunches to children ages 4 to 18. These meals help children on free and reduced lunch get the nutrition they need to learn, play, and grow throughout the summer months when they are out of school.

We are currently seeking locations to serve as summer meals sites.  We are also looking for volunteers to serve meals at these locations.

To become a registered meal site, please fill out the application or call 703-324-5330, TTY 711.  To volunteer to serve meals, please fill out the application or call 703-324-5504, TTY 711.
