VCAA Spotlight Volunteer: Katie Jones

Katie Jones joined the VCAA a few months ago and her volunteer efforts have already had a big impact. Katie leads Oceanography for Cruisers – a bimonthly science class about ocean life. After having taught science virtually to her son’s 5th grade class in the spring, Katie agreed to tailor her lessons for the older adult audience on the VCAA. Katie enjoys the challenge of teaching in a virtual environment and strives to create engaging content and fun activities that her participants will enjoy. She takes pride in giving older adults the opportunity to learn outside of a formal classroom setting. Interested in joining her class? New faces are always welcome, and Katie encourages participants to ask lots of questions.
