Strategic Plan Communications Toolkit
GENERAL INFORMATION
The Strategic Plan has been adopted but the real value is in implementation. We must link and align the strategic plan with current countywide initiatives, foster collaboration around the top priorities outlined, and establish accountability through data tracking and reporting. To do this, we need your help. The plan will serve as our road map, and we want to point back to it at every possible opportunity. Whether it’s a newsletter, press release, internal or external email, social media post or presentation, find that connection, mention the plan, and use our newly designed logo. Better yet why not put it in your email signature? Check out the logo and download the size you need below!

The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors adopted the first-ever countywide strategic plan on October 5, 2021. The strategic plan focuses on four key drivers which were used to immediately catalyze organization change: Equity, Community Outcomes, Data Integration, and Inclusive Engagement. These elements set a new foundation for the way different functions within County government work together under a shared vision, in pursuit of achieving real and sustained progress for the benefit of all people who live, work, and play in Fairfax County.
Year Two focused heavily on the use of an equity lens in strategic decision making and included greatly expanded opportunities for employee professional development and embedding the Countywide Strategic Plan framework across all departments. In February of 2024, the second Annual Report on the work of the Countywide Strategic Plan was released to the public. The report contains point-in-time progress highlights for each of the community outcome areas, plus three data dashboards and data stories that are being replicated across all of the outcome areas, and a number of additional initiatives to embed the elements of the plan within department-level work.
