Protection and Preservation Services
Our goals are to preserve families and prevent child abuse and
neglect. We help enhance families’ ability to provide safe,
stable, and nurturing environments for their children.
Who We Serve
Families at risk of abuse and neglect.
Families in need of services after abuse and neglect have occurred.
Families facing various challenges including substance abuse,
mental health, or domestic violence issues; major physical illness
or disabilities; social isolation; parent-child conflicts; and/or
Families who particpate voluntarily with PPS and families who are
court-ordered to particpate in services.
What We Do
Assess families’ strengths and needs.
Assess safety and risk concerns for children.
Create service plans with families to minimize safety and risk
concerns, build on strengths, and address needs.
Connect families to resources and services, such as mental health
and substance abuse treatment, domestic violence interventions,
parenting education and support, income and employment assistance,
and medical care.
Help families identify and connect with natural supports such as
extended family and community supports.

What to Expect When Calling the Hotline:
Families in need of services who meet designated criteria are
referred directly to PPS for assessment and ongoing services. Child
abuse and neglect concerns are referred to CPS Intake for
assessment or investigation. CPS refers families needing ongoing
services to Protection and Preservation Services. PPS also provides
domestic violence services to families participating in other CYF
