A Family Caregiver Speaks Up:
It Doesn’t Have to Be This Hard
Author to Speak at Fairfax County’s Sixth Annual
Caregiver Seminar and Resource Fair
Suzanne Geffen Mintz, president and co-founder of the National Family Caregivers Association and author of A Family Caregiver Speaks Up: It Doesn’t Have to Be This Hard, will address family caregivers at Fairfax County’s Sixth Annual Caregiver Seminar and Resource Fair on Friday, November 7, 2008. The event is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Springfield Golf and Country Club, 8301 Old Keene Mill Road, Springfield, VA 22152.
Ms. Mintz’s own caregiver experience led to her awareness that family caregiving is an important health and social policy issue. Her latest book advises family caregivers on how to deal with the healthcare system for relatives with chronic illnesses and reviews public policy related to caregiving.
Several county and private agency representatives will discuss community resources and demonstrate products at the Resource Fair.
Limited scholarships for attendees are available upon request.
The event, which includes a snack and buffet lunch, costs $10. Registration is required. Register online at www.fairfaxcounty.gov/dfs/olderadultservices.
