Families Make Beautiful Music: Nov. 5 free event honors adoptive families

On Friday, Nov. 5, from 6 – 9 p.m., the Fairfax County Department of Family Services will host a celebration “Families Make Beautiful Music,” in honor of adoptive families as part of National Adoption Awareness Month at the Fairfax County Government Center (12000 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax, VA 22035).
The public is invited to join Fairfax County adoptive families in the celebration. The free event includes interactive musical entertainment – fun for the whole family!
National Adoption Awareness Month began in 1976 when former Massachusetts Governor Michael Dukakis proclaimed Adoption Week in an effort to promote awareness of the need for adoptive families for children in foster care. Soon after that, former President Gerald Ford issued the first National Adoption Week proclamation. Locally, Fairfax County is committed to helping children in the foster care system find permanent homes.
