Beginning Wednesday, Feb. 15, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Seven Corners area, the Office for Women & Domestic and Sexual Violence Services (OFWDSVS) will offer an eight-week support group for elementary-school-aged children who have been exposed to domestic violence. This children’s group will utilize art, play and other therapeutic techniques to teach children about safe and healthy relationships, how to deal with their negative emotions and how to problem solve effectively without using violence.
The children’s group will meet at the same time and place as the women’s domestic violence group, which is continuously open for enrollment.
To sign up for either group, please contact: Heather McMillen, 703-704-6729, TTY 703-324-5706, or Salima Jiwa, 703-324-2395.
Both groups are free and confidential. Fliers are posted online:
OFWDSVS also offers other groups on a continuous or occasional basis, sometimes in Spanish, including:
- Coping Skills for Trauma Survivors
- Compassion Training for Couples in Conflict
- Support Group for Men Sexually Abused as Children
