Extended Hours Vaccination Clinics
When:

  • Monday, August 31, 8 a.m.-6 p.m.
  • Tuesday, September 1, 10 a.m. -.6 p.m.
  • Tuesday, September 8, 8 a.m.-6 p.m.
Where: All 5 district offices
Description: Fairfax County Health Department has requested MRC support to provide back-to-school vaccinations at District Office Extended-Hours Vaccination Clinics for Vaccinators (clinically active MD/DO/PA/APRN/RN experienced with adolescents), Interpreters (Spanish - must have completed the Introduction to Interpretation for Emergency Responder training) and Admin Support (non-medical volunteers). Partial shifts are available. Vaccinators must complete all pre-requisites prior to assignment.

Vaccinator Training
When: Available online
Membership Requirements: Active Volunteers
Description: This course introduces Fairfax MRC volunteers to the forms and clinical processes to the 2015 Extended Hours Vaccination Clinics. To successfully complete this course, volunteers should access the course material and complete the seven question knowledge check at the end.

ICS 100, Introduction to Incident Command System
When: Wednesday, September 2, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
Where: McConnell Public Safety and Transportation Operations Center, Fairfax, VA
Membership Requirements: Pending volunteers
Description: ICS 100, Introduction to the Incident Command System, introduces the Incident Command System (ICS) and provides the foundation for higher level ICS training. This course describes the history, features and principles, and organizational structure of the Incident Command System. It also explains the relationship between ICS and the National Incident Management System (NIMS). Successful completion of this course and exam meets the Fairfax MRC Basic Training requirements.

Membership Requirements: Pending Volunteers
Description: ICS 100, Introduction to the Incident Command System, introduces the Incident Command System (ICS) and provides the foundation for higher level ICS training. This course describes the history, features and principles, and organizational structure of the Incident Command System. It also explains the relationship between ICS and the National Incident Management System (NIMS).Successful completion of this course and exam meets the Fairfax MRC Basic Training requirements.

When: Saturday, September 12, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday, September 13, 10 a.m.-5:50 p.m.
Where: Burke Centre Conservancy, Burke, VA
Membership Requirements: Active Volunteers (Basic Training requirements complete)
Description: The Fairfax County Citizen Corps, of which Fairfax MRC is a corps member, is hosting its second Ready-Set-Know Festival at the Burke Centre Festival. Help educate and prepare Fairfax County residents to build a kit, make a plan, stay informed, and get involved during this National Preparedness Month event!

Ready-Set-Know Festival MRC Outreach Table
When: Saturday, September 12, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Sunday, September 13, 10 a.m. - 5:50 p.m.
Where: Burke Centre Conservancy, Burke, VA
Membership Requirements: Active Volunteers (Basic Training requirements complete)
Description: Fairfax MRC will have an Outreach Table at the Ready-Set-Know Festival to promote the MRC and recruit new members. Come out, promote the MRC, and see how many new members you can recruit!

Basic Training

All Fairfax MRC members must complete an application and the Basic Training Requirements to be considered an Active Level volunteer and participate in any MRC-related activity.

Basic Training Requirements include the following classes:

  • MRC 101: Orientation
  • FEMA IS-700: National Incident Management System (NIMS) An Introduction; offered online.
  • FEMA IS-100: Introduction to Incident Command System; offered online.
