Tdap Review & Exam
When: Available online
Membership Requirements: Active Volunteers
Description: This course is a prerequisite to administer Tdap vaccines. To complete this course, you should review the materials and pass the exam with a score of 80% or greater.

HPV & Meningococcal Exam

Description: This course is a prerequisite to administer HDP & Meningococcal vaccines. To complete this course, you should review the materials and pass the exam with a score of 80% or greater.

Vaccinator Training
When: Available online
Membership Requirements: Active Volunteers
Description: This course introduces Fairfax MRC volunteers to the forms and clinical processes to the 2015 Extended Hours Vaccination Clinics. To successfully complete this course, volunteers should access the course material and complete the seven question knowledge check at the end.

IM Injection Skills Assessment
When: By appointment
Membership Requirements: Active Volunteers
Description: Mandatory IM Skills Assessment for healthcare professionals who will be administering Tdap/HVP/Meningococcal vaccines at the 2015 Extended Hours Vaccination Clinics. If you have completed an IM Skills Assessment within the past 12 months, you do not need to repeat it.

Extended Hours Vaccination Clinics
When:

  • Monday, August 28, 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
  • Monday, August 31, 8 a.m.-6 p.m.
  • Tuesday, September 1, 10 a.m. -.6 p.m.
  • Tuesday, September 8, 8 a.m.-6 p.m.
Where: All 5 district offices
Description: Fairfax County Health Department has requested MRC support to provide back-to-school vaccinations at District Office Extended-Hours Vaccination Clinics for Vaccinators (clinically active MD/DO/PA/APRN/RN experienced with adolescents), Interpreters (Spanish - must have completed the Introduction to Interpretation for Emergency Responder training) and Admin Support (non-medical volunteers). Partial shifts are available. Vaccinators must complete all pre-requisites prior to assignment.

Epi Update Training CANCELED
When: Wednesday, August 12, 7 p.m.
Where: Fairfax County Health Department, 10777 Main St, Fairfax VA
Membership Requirements: Active Members Only
Description: This course will provide an overview of several recent events where the epidemiology team has been involved.  This course will touch on events such as the World Police and Fire Games, Ebola, Middle Eastern Respiratory Syndrome (MERS), and measles. Instructor: Denise Sockwell, MSPH, CP-FS

Basic Training

All Fairfax MRC members must complete an application and the Basic Training Requirements to be considered an Active Level volunteer and participate in any MRC-related activity.

Basic Training Requirements include the following classes:

  • MRC 101: Orientation
  • FEMA IS-700: National Incident Management System (NIMS) An Introduction; offered online.
  • FEMA IS-100: Introduction to Incident Command System; offered online.
