FCPA Regulations
General Rules

Saws, Shovels and Other Tools – No person shall carry or use hand saws,
chain saws, axes, shovels, drills, wheelbarrows, or other tools which
may cause damage to or aid in the removal of park property without the
express written permission of the Park Authority.

Playgrounds – Patrons must use age-appropriate playground
equipment.

Deposit trash in trash receptacles.

Alcoholic beverages are not permitted on park grounds or in Park
Authority buildings without a pre-approved permit in accordance with
Virginia state law.

In the interest of preservation and patron safety, only with the
express written permission can patrons abandon or place personal
objects on Park Authority property.
- Organized athletic activities must be played on designated athletic fields only.
Athletic Field Rules

Hitting, throwing or kicking balls into fences is not allowed.

Golfing, pets or motorized vehicles are not allowed on fields.

Play on fields is prohibited during wet or inclement weather.

Field maintenance is prohibited without prior approval from the
FCPA.

Climbing on the fences, backstops and goals is not allowed.

Competitive recreation – golf, baseball, softball, basketball,
football, lacrosse, hockey, tennis and other active competitive sports
-- is allowed only on the Park Authority’s designated athletic
facilities during regular park operating hours.

The scheduling of organized sport groups and the issuance of permits to
those groups shall be in accord with guidelines provided by the Park
Authority and the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors. Permit holders
shall have first rights for the use of the fields to which they have
been assigned. A field not being utilized by a permit holder may be
used by others, including the “walk-on?? public.

Field closings for maintenance, safety or other reasons deemed
appropriate for the management and protection of property shall be at
the discretion of the Park Authority.
- Use periods of Park Authority fields shall be limited as follows:
- Level 1 Fields: After 4 p.m. on the last Friday in March to the end of the first full weekend* in November; and
- Level 2 and 3 Fields: After 4 p.m. on the last Friday in March to the end of the third full weekend* in November.
- Level 4 Fields: Synthetic Turf Fields are available year-round
*A full weekend is one in which Saturday and Sunday are both in November.
The following exception is made to the above use periods:
- *The single season sport of youth football shall not be subject to the closing dates.
- Participants in the Full Adoption Adopt-A-Field program shall be exempt from this policy as defined in the provisions governing that program.
Field closings shall be at the discretion of the Park Authority and for the purpose of maintenance, safety or any reason deemed appropriate for the management or protection of property.
The use of athletic field lighting is available for organized sports groups who have a permit to use a field during the period of time that the lights are being used, and is for games and practices only.
Temporary lighting systems shall meet the same development requirements as permanent lights, including identification in the master plan for the park and adherence to all lighting and noise ordinances. The lights shall present no hazard to park users, shall not pollute the environment and shall meet appropriate illumination standards. The Park Authority shall reserve the right to deny temporary lighting request if it feels it is in the best interest of the Park Authority, park patrons or the surrounding community.

For patron safety, only players, coaches, umpires and referees are
allowed on athletic fields. All spectators, pets and others are to
remain at least 15 feet from the boundary of the field, or outside a
perimeter fence.
