FCRHA Seeks Public Comment on Proposed Amendment to Housing Waiting List Preference System
From Friday, March 12 until Friday, April 9, 2010, the Fairfax County Redevelopment and Housing Authority (FCRHA) will be accepting public comment on a proposed amendment to the FCRHA’s Public Housing and Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) waiting list preference system. The amendment will temporarily reduce the number of hours that the head, spouse, or sole member must meet to qualify for the “working preference” from thirty (30) hours to twenty (20) hours per week, due to current economic conditions. The change is intended to address the rising number of under-employed applicants currently on FCRHA waiting lists. The proposed amendment would reduce the hourly requirement from 30 hours to 20 hours for a period of two years.
Note: The Public Housing and Housing Choice Voucher waiting lists are currently closed. The proposed amendment applies only to families who have been notified of their placement on a waiting list.
