Fairfax-Falls Church CSB Celebrates Forty Years of Quality Services
The Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board (CSB) is celebrating
its fortieth anniversary. Created in 1969, the CSB began providing
community-based services at a time when deinstitutionalization to the
community was demanded as part of the movement toward assuring the
protection of rights for people with disabilities. The CSB partners
with individuals, families, and the community to empower and support
Fairfax-Falls Church residents with, or at risk of, developmental delay,
intellectual disability, mental illness, and alcohol or drug abuse or
dependency.
"The CSB strives to provide innovative, quality, caring
services for people and their families. Over the years, we have
seen people with increasingly complex concerns
and we have been successful by working in partnership
with people receiving services, by developing a high quality
workforce, and through collaborations with other providers and
organizations throughout the community," said Executive Director
George Braunstein, reflecting on this milestone.
The anniversary celebration will include a proclamation by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors and a rededication to the community on November 16 at 9:30 a.m. A reception for stakeholders will precede the proclamation.
