The Fairfax County Commission on Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplantation is dedicated to increasing the awareness of all citizens of Fairfax County regarding organ and tissue donation and transplantation through education and coordination of resources in a way which will result in increased organ and tissue donations in the county.
This Commission was created by the Board of Supervisors in 1994. It is the first of its kind to be set up by a local government in the United States, and serves as a model for local commissions being created throughout the country.
