Champions of Character

Background

The Fairfax County Athletic Council (FCAC) is pleased to announce the tenth annual Fairfax County Champions of Character Awards.  This awards program honors youth, coaches and parents for extraordinary service in pursuing victory with honor.  The program’s aim is to help restore the ennobling tradition of amateur athletic competition.  Despite the attention that poor behavior and bad sportsmanship attracts, there are plenty of positive role models and examples of players, parents, and coaches who demonstrate positive character in sports.  The FCAC invites you to nominate outstanding youth and adults who have demonstrated extraordinary service in the sports community while modeling the basic traits of good character: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship.

Youth and adults participating in any county sports league, including interscholastic sports, will be invited to be recognized at a ceremony in October 2013, during National Character Counts Month. Champions of Character award winners will receive plaques of recognition and be listed in the program book. The awards will be presented by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors and the FCAC at the October 2013 ceremony.
