SACC Winter Program

2013 SACC Winter Program

Week 1: December 26 & 27 (2 days)

Week 2: December 30 & 31 and January 2 & 3 (4 days)

SACCTOPIA: We Built This Green City!

During the SACC Winter Program, children will take on the role of architects, planners, designers, environmentalists, scientists, artists, athletes and elected officials and will unite to design and build unique green, environmentally friendly, cities and communities.

Children will work together to select the perfect environment and landscape, and to plan and draw a blueprint of their green city. Environmentally friendly homes, transportation systems, businesses, parks and playgrounds will be designed to maximize sustainability of the city’s land, water and energy sources. Children will bring all the elements of their green city to life by building a model of the city. Once the city is established, they will elect city officials, write a city motto, choose a town mascot, determine the wildlife, develop occupations and businesses, host recreational and sporting events and create the history of their city.

SACCtopian cities will celebrate their development as they build towards a greener tomorrow.  Week 1 will culminate with an unveiling of the green city’s blueprints and a showcase of home and building designs.  Week 2’s events will conclude with a ribbon cutting ceremony and unveiling of the green city followed by a celebration of the city’s first official holiday highlighting the cultural arts, cuisine, sports and leisure activities enjoyed by SACCTOPIA residents and tourists.
