Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board
Welcomes New Representative
On November 17, 2008, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors appointed the Honorable Jane H. Woods as an At-Large representative on the Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board.
The Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board (CSB) partners with individuals, families, and the community to empower and support Fairfax-Falls Church residents with, or at risk of, developmental delay, intellectual disability (mental retardation), mental illness, and alcohol or drug abuse or dependency.
Jane Woods opened her own consulting company, Driftwoods Consulting, LLC, in January of 2006 upon completing a four-year term as Virginia’s Secretary of Health and Human Resources with Governor Mark R. Warner. Woods also joined the College of Health and Human Services, Department for Health Administration and Policy, at George Mason University in 2006. Prior to 2006, Woods served in the Virginia House of Delegates and the Virginia State Senate where she chaired the Senate Committee on Education and Health. Woods’ work in the legislature also included serving as Vice Chair of the Joint Commission on Health Care as well as numerous other commissions and joint committees.
Before serving in the legislature, Woods taught in the public schools for almost 20 years. Her community work has spanned from political campaigns to Associate Director of Virginia Girls State; Board member of the Virginia Health Quality Center; Fairfax Spotlight on the Arts (Immediate Past President); Advisory Board, Prevent Child Abuse Virginia and Fairfax Futures; the NoVaScriptsCentral Board; the AMERIGROUP National Advisory Board and the executive committee of the National Capital Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
The CSB, a multi-jurisdictional agency, provides services for the residents of Fairfax County, and cities of Fairfax and Falls Church.
As the public support network, the CSB provides services which assist, improve and maximize the potential of individuals affected by behavioral health conditions and strengthen their capacity for living self-determined, productive and valued lives within our community.
