The Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board announces new offerings of the groundbreaking "Mental Health First Aid" program.

  • New! Adult classes can now be completed in 8 hours (instead of 12)
  • New! Classes focusing on mental health issues of youth
  • New! Classes offered in Spanish

This certification course uses role-playing and simulations to demonstrate how to assess a mental health crisis; select interventions and provide initial help. Learn risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems like anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, and addictions. Explore the impact of mental illnesses on individuals and society. Find out about local and national resources, support groups, and how to connect persons to professional, peer and social supports as well as self-help resources.
