Definition:
- Supplemental tax on commercial and industrial property for transportation purposes
Current Rate:
- 11¢ per $100 of assessed value
Example Rate:
- Increase by 1¢. The rate can increase by any increment to a maximum of 12.5¢ per $100 until June 30, 2018. Currently, a 1.5¢ increase is already being considered for FY2014.
Potential Annual Revenue at Example Rate:
- A 1¢ increase in C&I will generate $3.8 million (2012 Dollars).
Requirements:
- Board of Supervisor’s authorization required

- Could be bonded, depending on how it is implemented.
Who Pays?
- Fairfax County businesses in Commercial and Industrial Tax Districts

- Residential property owners
