CDC Epi-Aid Report on Youth Suicide in Fairfax County

In November 2014, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) conducted an investigation – known as an “Epi-Aid” – of the behaviors and risk factors associated with suicides among youth in Fairfax County Public Schools. The final report was provided to the Fairfax County Health Department and the school district and a webinar briefing was conducted on June 23, 2015 to review the findings and recommendations.

Youth Suicide Surveillance

Following the 2014 CDC Epi-Aid, the Health Department has increased surveillance efforts to detect significant changes in youth suicide trends in Fairfax County.
