Providence Community Center Grand Opening

On Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015, Providence Supervisor Linda Q. Smyth, Board of Supervisors Chairman Sharon Bulova and members of the community gathered to celebrate the long-awaited grand opening of the Providence Community Center.

The new 32,000 square-foot community center is the new location for the Providence District Supervisor’s office and the designated polling place for the local precinct.The facility will also host numerous events, activities and programs for individuals of all ages and abilities coordinated by the Department of Neighborhood and Community Services. Program offerings include:

  • Adaptive Programming for Individuals with Special Needs
  • Fitness, Educational and Technology Classes
  • Afterschool Programming
  • Summer Camps
  • Senior Programming
  • Family Programming

Green Building

The community center was designed and constructed with several green building features to minimize the facility’s environmental footprint. Green features include:

  • Energy efficient mechanical systems
  • Water-and energy-conserving fixtures and appliances
  • Use of regionally-produced and recycled construction materials
  • Vegetated roof
  • Landscaping with native vegetation

Exit onto I-66 west and follow the directions from I-66 (listed below).

From I-66
Take Nutley Street towards Fairfax. Turn right onto Lee Highway (Route 29). Turn right at the second traffic signal (Vaden Drive). The Community Center is located about a quarter mile ahead on your left.

From Fairfax Circle
Take Lee Highway (Route 29) east toward I-495. Turn left onto Vaden Drive. The Community Center is located about a quarter mile ahead on your left.
