Early Head Start Child Care

If your child is 6 weeks to 28  months old, and/or you are pregnant, you may be eligible to enroll your child in the Fairfax County Early Head Start program. To be eligible, you must:

Early Head Start offers quality family child care, and:

  • Services for children with special needs
  • Vision and hearing screenings
  • Volunteer opportunities for parents
  • Referrals to job training and other community services
  • Parenting workshops

Family child care providers:

  • Serve children healthy food through the USDA Food Program
  • Are legally authorized to provide child care
  • Have been trained in child development
  • Are certified in CPR and first aid
  • Receive visits from child care specialists
  • Care for small groups of children in their homes
  • Participate in Fairfax County's child care subsidy program
