In partnership with local grocery stores, volunteers, and community organizations, the program collects non-perishable food items and gift cards at various locations throughout the county. This collaboration helps keep the shelves of local pantries and food providers stocked throughout the year. This year's event is presented in partnership with Fairfax County Department of Transportation, Fairfax County Fire and Rescue and MV Transportation, Inc. The Braddock District community is invited to learn more about Fairfax County Government and issues important to the area at the Braddock Neighborhood College program that begins in March.The free, six-session certificate program will feature guest speakers, interactive activities, breakout room discussions, networking opportunities, and information about advisory boards and other volunteer opportunities.Braddock Neighborhood College graduates will:Learn how Fairfax County Government works and how to get involved.Understand demographic profiles and trends within a community context.Explore topics that impact the social and economic well-being of the neighborhoods and communities.Apply principles and strategies for inclusive community engagement and outreach.Enhance leadership and problem-solving skills to improve neighborhood livability.The program is sponsored by Braddock District Supervisor Rachna Sizemore Heizer in partnership with Fairfax County Neighborhood and Community Services (NCS). The Fairfax County community is invited to join county leaders for "Unite, Uplift and Celebrate!" a Black History Month celebration on Friday, February 20, 2026, at 5 p.m. at the Fairfax County Government Center, 12000 Government Center Pwky., Fairfax.The theme for this year's event is “Promote, Protect and Preserve.” Please attend and enjoy local performances, interactive activities, enlightening discussion and light refreshments with your neighbors.The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors proclaimed February Black History Month in Fairfax County.
