H1N1 Mass Vaccine Clinic Nov. 21

  • For all CDC target groups listed below from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Fairfax County Government Center, 12000 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax. The Health Department will have the capacity to vaccinate to 12,000 people. The vaccine is free and available on a walk in basis.

  • Plan to monitor this Web page, Facebook or Twitter or call the H1N1 Call Center: 703-267-3511 for updates before and on Nov. 21.

  • This clinic will target people in the CDC priority groups who have not yet received their first dose of H1N1 vaccine:

    • Pregnant women

    • People who live with or provide care for infants younger than 6 months (parents, siblings and day care providers)

    • Health care workers who have direct patient contact

    • People 6 months through 24 years of age

    • People 25 years through 64 years of age who have certain medical conditions that put them at higher risk for influenza-related complications:
      • Asthma
      • Neurological and neurodevelopmental conditions (including disorders of the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerve, and muscle such as cerebral palsy, epilepsy (seizure disorders), stroke, intellectual disability (mental retardation), moderate to severe developmental delay, muscular dystrophy, or spinal cord injury)
      • Chronic lung disease (such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and cystic fibrosis)
      • Heart disease (such as congenital heart disease, congestive heart failure and coronary artery disease)
      • Blood disorders (such as sickle cell disease)
      • Endocrine disorders (such as diabetes mellitus)
      • Kidney disorders
      • Liver disorders
      • Metabolic disorders (such as inherited metabolic disorders and mitochondrial disorders)
      • Weakened immune system due to disease or medication (such as people with HIV or AIDS, cancer, or those on chronic steroids)
      • People younger than 19 years of age who are receiving long-term aspirin therapy

  • Two doses: The CDC recommends all children through 9 years of age receive two doses of H1N1 vaccine separated by four weeks (28 days or more). Learn more about the second dose and what you need to bring.

H1N1 Vaccine Clinics Nov. 23, 24 and Dec. 1, 3

  • 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. clinic Monday, Nov. 23, Tuesday, Nov. 24, Tuesday, Dec. 1 and Thursday, Dec. 3: Vaccine is free of charge and available on a walk-in basis to the first 400 people in the CDC target groups at each of the five Health Department clinic locations (except for Springfield, which has a capacity for 350). Vaccine will be offered to: 

    • Pregnant women
    • People who live with or provide care for infants younger than 6 months (parents, siblings and day care providers)
    • Health care workers who have direct patient contact
    • People 6 months through 24 years of age
    • People 25 years through 64 years of age who have certain medical conditions that put them at higher risk for influenza-related complications.

  • 5 p.m. clinic Thursday, Dec. 3: Vaccine is free of charge and available to the first 250 people who are in the CDC target groups on a walk-in basis at only the Falls Church clinic.
