Maintenance
Synthetic turf fields do require regular maintenance, although it is less than that required of grass fields. To ensure the quality and safety of the fields, users are not permitted to perform any maintenance on the fields, including lining and snow or ice removal.
Field Development
The development and conversion of fields to synthetic turf is funded by a variety of methods in Fairax County. Community athletic groups that are interested in funding the development or conversion of a turf field should familiarize themselves with the following:
-
Policy for Allocating
Field Time to Partner Organizations on Synthetic Turf Fields -
Guides the allocation of synthetic turf fields developed with funding
from community athletic organizations.
-
Mini-Grant Program – This competitive program will offer county
funds in support of community athletic groups’ financing of turf field
conversions. Program details
and the application packet.
- Proposed Partnerships – Per NCS policy, NCS will make public information regarding proposals by community athletic groups to fully or partially fund the development or conversion of a synthetic turf field. This notice is to allow the public opportunity to provide feedback on the proposed partnership, including (but not limited to) the site location, the impact of the field conversion, potential funding partnerships, and the viability of the proposed partnership. The notice will remain posted for at least 30 days prior to the signing of any agreement to begin the project. To provide feedback on a proposed partnership, please contact the Athletic Services Division at AthleticServices@fairfaxcounty.gov or 703-324-5533, TTY711.
