Fairfax County Needs Volunteers for the
Vietnamese Meals on Wheels Program in Annandale and Falls Church
Fairfax County’s Meals on Wheels program needs volunteers to deliver meals to Vietnamese speaking residents in the Annandale and Falls Church areas. Fluency in Vietnamese is helpful but not required.
The county’s Meals on Wheels program provides nutritious meals to older adults who are unable to prepare their own meals. The delivered meals help them continue to live independently.
To volunteer, contact Kim Ha Ly at 703-324-3552 (TTY 703-449-1186) or Kim-Ha.Ly@fairfaxcounty.gov. Callers should leave their name and telephone number. The message can be in Vietnamese or English. Get additional information and volunteer job descriptions.
“Volunteering for Meals on Wheels can be flexible and easy. Just a few hours a month makes a significant contribution to the health, happiness and quality of life of an older person,” said Nutrition Program Supervisor Jan Kikuchi.
Volunteer drivers deliver meals once or twice a month for approximately one hour. The program needs regular and substitute drivers. Meals are picked up in the Falls Church Eden Center at 10:30 a.m.
Volunteer drivers must have a valid driver’s license. Mileage reimbursement is available.
Fairfax County is committed to nondiscrimination on the basis of disability in all county programs, services and activities. Reasonable accommodations will be provided upon request. Call 703-324-5411, TTY 703-449-1186.
The Department of Family Services’ Fairfax Area Agency on Aging sponsors the Meals on Wheels Program.
The program aligns with the county’s Fairfax 50+ Action Plan for a “more aging friendly community.”
