The Children’s Services Act (CSA) is a Virginia law that helps children and families access services and supports when children have unmet serious behavioral health care needs (i.e., mental health, substance use and developmental disability). Eligible children may need intensive services to help them safely remain in the home and community. Parents/caregivers work together with staff from public child-serving agencies, schools, and behavioral health care providers to plan for and provide services to children who have serious emotional or behavioral concerns.
CSA in Fairfax-Falls Church operates under the Systems of Care (SOC) principles and practice standards. Our philosophy is to:
- Provide supportive services to youth and families in the community.
- Keep families together.
- Work with the strengths of the youth and family.
- Ensure inter-agency collaboration and coordination of care.
- Create individualized, flexible, comprehensive, and family focused services that represent the unique qualities of children and families.
