Caregiver Respite

Caregiver respite service  allows family caregivers to take a well-deserved break. Call 703-324-7948, TTY 711 to discuss these 3 county programs:

  1. The first provides up to 6 hours of care per week from a certified nursing assistant to relieve a full-time family caregiver. There are income and functional requirements.

  2. The second provides up to 6 hours/ month from a trained volunteer who provides oversight and companionship. This service is free and there is no income requirement.

  3. The third is an Adult Day Health Care Center. The county operates five centers that offer medical oversight, recreation and companionship to participants needing supervision during the day. Participants can attend 2-5 days a week. Find out more.

Virginia’s Lifespan Respite Voucher Program  reimburses caregivers up to $400/year for respite services. Respite service is temporary home care that allows a family caregiver to take a break. Volunteer as a Respite Caregiver

Respite Care volunteers provide companionship and oversight to an older adult who cannot be left alone while their family caregiver takes a break. These breaks are extremely important to the welfare of both the caregiver and their loved one.

Support and training are provided by the county.
