Interested in the development and design of McLean? Don't miss your opportunity to participate in the process of finalizing the McLean District Design Guidelines. Available online for public review and feedback, the draft McLean District Design Guidelines will help shape the details and design direction for future development in the town’s Community Business Center.

The draft Design Guidelines reflect feedback provided at a spring 2022 community workshop that identified a community desire for a walkable, small town feel with brick sidewalks, street trees, outdoor cafes, lively park spaces and lush landscaping.

Those who live and work in McLean are highly encouraged to:

  • Review the draft Design Guidelines
  • Share feedback through the online survey and comment page
  • Visit the interactive Community Open House at The Signet on Tuesday, May 2, from 5-8 p.m. The address is 6900 Fleetwood Rd, McLean, VA 22101. Parking is available in the Signet parking garage or on-street.

The review and comment period will close on May 14. All community input will be reviewed by staff to inform any additional changes.

Work on the draft is expected to continue into the summer. Endorsement of the Design Guidelines by the Board of Supervisors will occur once the document is finalized. Adoption of these guidelines is a crucial step in communicating the urban design vision for the area, as described in the McLean CBC Comprehensive Plan, adopted in the fall of 2021.

Additional project details are available on the project webpage.
