Animal Protection Police Officers with the Animal Services Division handle a wide array of encounters between animals and humans, from stray dog reports to raccoons in living rooms and possums in trashcans. APPOs respond seven days a week from 6 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. To report animal bites, cruelty or neglect, sick or injured wildlife or exposure/encounters with potentially rabid wildlife call 703-691-2131.
