Generally, if a road has a route number associated with it (ex: Fairfax County Parkway - Route 286), it is maintained by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT). This includes most primary and secondary roads in the county. Maintenance includes potholes; traffic signals and signs (except street name signs); trees/branches; roadside ditches, curbs and gutters; and snow removal.
- To report a problem call their Highway Help Line at 1-800-FOR-ROAD (1-800-367-7623), TTY: 711 or place a work request on-line.
