Complaints of Alleged Police Misconduct

Members of the public may request a review of an already completed Fairfax County Police Department Investigation into alleged misconduct using the complaint form.
Investigation Review Types
In cases of officer-involved shooting, in-custody death or use of force:
The Independent Police Auditor reviews the investigation for accuracy, completeness, thoroughness, objectivity and impartiality and will issue a public report of its findings.
In cases of alleged abuse of authority or serious misconduct:
The Police Civilian Review Panel reviews the investigation for accuracy, completeness, thoroughness, objectivity and impartiality and will issue a public report of its findings.
Reports will be made publicly available here, as they are created.
- Annual reports are released by the Office of the Independent Police Auditor, advising the public on review status.
- Individual reports are also produced for each review conducted by the Independent Police Auditor.
