In addition to responding to public complaints, the Office of the Independent Police Auditor monitors and reviews Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) internal investigations into:
- officer involved shootings
- deaths while in custody of the FCPD
- use of force cases resulting in death or serious injury
- other use of force (or display of force) cases when a public complaint is received
Note: OIPA releases reports within 60 days of having access to the completed FCPD IAB investigative file, except where cases are jointly reviewed by the Auditor and the Panel.
