The Fairfax County Department of Transportation (FCDOT) will hold an in-person community meeting on planned pedestrian improvements on Georgetown Pike at Great Falls Library on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2025, at the Great Falls Grange, 9818 Georgetown Pike, Great Falls, Va., from 7 to 8 p.m.
Highlights of the project include:
- A high visibility crosswalk.
- Pedestrian crossing warning signs.
- ADA curb ramps.
- Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs).
- A pedestrian refuge island.
The project also includes minor sidewalk extensions and minor drainage improvements east of the intersection of Georgetown Pike and Great Falls Shopping Center, the removal of the right turn lane to Great Falls Library and curb extensions to reduce crossing distance. Other improvements include updated/new pavement markings and signage at the entrance to the Great Falls Library.
The presentation will be posted online after the meeting and a survey to take comments online or via voice mail will be available from Jan. 30 through Feb. 14.
