Learn about how to obtain paper maps of locations within Fairfax County.
The Fairfax County Map Wizard is an interactive mapping application for creating and printing maps in the style of the official property, zoning, and other map books, but with custom extents and scales. These maps are free to create, download and print at home. Limited quantities of printed versions of these maps are available for a fee on a walk-in basis at the GIS Office.
On the Fairfax County Open Data site, users can view and download over 170 of the county's GIS data layers. These data may also be added to an online map or used in desktop GIS software to create a custom map. Fairfax County does not offer technical support for these functionalities, but details may be found on the Esri website.
Whole County map books (property, zoning, soils, etc.) as well as individual map book pages (zoning map book only) may be purchased from the GIS & Mapping Services office. See the price list for details.
Please note that weekly-updated map book pages, in addition to a library of historical map book pages, are available to view and download (one page at a time) for free in our Digital Map Viewer application found in the gallery of Interactive Mapping Applications. The full set of Property and Zoning map pages current to January 1st, 2017 are also available for download from our Sharefile site.
In addition, the Map Wizard application may be used to create free, print-ready maps of official Fairfax County map book data with custom scales and extents.
Maps in the Fairfax County gallery of Maps Available for Purchase are for sale at their full size at the GIS office. Printouts of maps produced in the Map Wizard application are also available for purchase.
