Spring Program Fun

Creatures that Were: Delve into Dinosaurs!

Let’s discover what life was like when dinosaurs existed! We’ll go back millions of years to explore the large creatures that lived in the dense jungles, ate from the trees in the lush forests, and roamed miles of grassland. Children will become paleontologists as they learn about the Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous time periods.
Children will imagine, design, and transform the SACC center into an immersive dinosaur rich environment. In addition to learning dinosaur names, which are grouped by similar characteristics, children will enjoy learning about the different time periods and the unique animals and plants that lived in them by creating 3D dioramas. Children will also conduct an imaginary excavation and try to piece together dinosaur fossils. Through dinosaur yoga and other active games, children will discover the different ways animals walked and moved on earth. Children will also enjoy opportunities to make new friends, read a new book, play some of their favorite games and spend time outside. This week is sure to be a blast from the past!

Lunch
Your child will need a packed lunch and beverage each day. Please label both with your child's name and the date.

Snacks
Snacks are provided in the morning and afternoon. Spring SACC Menu

Additional Information

Medication
Please provide any required medication and the appropriate Fairfax County Public Schools/SACC medication authorization form.

Health and Safety
SACC centers are required to have accurate and up-to-date emergency information for all children. This information is part of the Child Information for SACC Records form which parents must complete for each child enrolled. Contact information is required for at least two persons who may pick up your child in the event of an emergency if you cannot be reached. Children will be released from SACC only to the persons listed on their Child Information for SACC Records form as parents/guardians, emergency contacts or authorized pick-up persons. Any authorized pick-up person unfamiliar to the center staff must show photo identification. Children will not be released to walk home alone.

Current Families
If your child is enrolled in SACC before school, or after school during the school year, a copy of your child's Child Information for SACC Records form and School Entrance Health form and immunization record will be transferred to your spring program site. Please see your center staff to verify that the information on the Child Information form is accurate and up-to-date, and to verify that both copies of the form have an original signature.

New Families
If your child does not attend SACC during the school year program, but is enrolled in the spring program, you will need to provide SACC with a copy of your child's School Entrance Health form and Immunization Record, a completed Child Information for SACC Records form, and show proof of your child's identity (birth certificate, report card, passport or Social Security card).

If your plans change, please remember that SACC requires advance notice to cancel service. Service must be cancelled in advance to avoid being responsible for payment. Cancellations may be made by calling 703-449-8989 or by emailing SACC Registration. Please include your name, your child's name, account number, center name and service to be cancelled.
