Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board Alert:
The memory of childhood experience is stored in our bodies and not just our minds.
Our experiences have a profound impact on who we are and who we will become. When children experience traumatic events, it can have lasting effects on their mental health and wellbeing. These events are called Adverse Childhood Experiences, or ACEs. Trauma can even increase the likelihood of developing a chronic disease.
There is hope. One stable and caring relationship can mitigate the impacts of trauma. Science tells us that what is predictable is preventable. Studies in brain science, epidemiology and resilience research have helped us to understand how protection, prevention and building resilience can improve health, safety and productivity across our lifespan.
The Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board invites you to join a presentation on “Building Resilient Communities and Understanding Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)” to learn how hope and connection can buffer ACEs.
