REVIVE! trains individuals on what to do and not do in an overdose situation, how to administer naloxone, and what to do afterwards.
The free training is open to any person seeking the knowledge and confidence needed to potentially save a life during an opioid overdose emergency. REVIVE! Opioid Overdose Naloxone Education trainings are meant for lay rescuers to learn how to reverse opioid overdoses. Upon successful completion of the training, residents of Fairfax County and the Cities of Fairfax and Falls Church can receive a free box of naloxone upon request.

No. Opioids include licit medications like hydrocodone and oxycodone, in addition to illicit drugs like heroin.
The training includes what to do and not do in an overdose situation, signs and symptoms of an opioid overdose, how to administer naloxone, and what to do afterwards. Upon successfully completion of the training, each attendee who meets the criteria is eligible to receive a free box of naloxone* that contains 2 doses. No. In addition to the CSB-sponsored classes listed on this page, you can also request a customized REVIVE! Opioid Overdose Naloxone Education training in English or Spanish. Contact the CSB's Wellness, Health Promotion and Prevention team at csbrevive@fairfaxcounty.gov. In addition to CSB trainings, additional community classes are available locally through the Chris Atwood Foundation. For other training offerings throughout Virginia, visit the State's REVIVE! website.
Upon completion of the CSB REVIVE! Opioid Overdose Naloxone Education training, residents of Fairfax County and the Cities of Fairfax and Falls Church are eligible to receive a free box naloxone. One can also check with their local pharmacy for how to obtain naloxone (it would be at a cost at the local pharmacy so checking with one's insurance provider is recommended). Residents from other areas can also contact their local government to find additional information on how to obtain naloxone.
