Virtual Reston Comprehensive Plan Study Task Force Meeting on Monday, May 11

The introductory meeting for the Reston Comprehensive Plan Study Task Force is Monday, May 11, 7 to 9 p.m. The meeting is virtual on the Webex platform.

Please use this link to attend and participate in the meeting. You will be prompted to register with your email address and zip code before logging into meeting. If you prefer to only listen to the meeting, you may call 1-408-418-9388 and use access code: 719 193 626. This is also the number to use if accessing TTY 711. Each meeting will have a unique link and call-in information, which will be posted here

Four Ways You Can Attend/Participate Virtually:

  • Laptop: Install WebEx app  (some work laptops will not allow).
  • Laptop: Using the temporary WebEx client (Click on the link provided for the meeting.)
  • Smart Device: Install WebEx app  on your iPhone/Android or tablet
  • Phone /Audio Only: Dial in audio (info at bottom of WebEx invite). This enables you to listen but not participate in the meeting. Each meeting has its own phone number and access code, which will be noted with the meeting details on the Hunter Mill District Land Use and Zoning web page

Important Notes:

  • Task Force meetings will be video recorded and the link will be shared on the Reston Comprehensive Plan Study web page, as well as the Hunter Mill District newsletter and other platforms.
  • Each meeting has a unique log-in, do not use links to past meetings.
  • If you can, please use headphones or ear buds to cut down on feedback and provide a better audio experience.
  • If you are able (some work laptops will not allow), at your earliest convenience you are encouraged to download and install the Webex Meetings app
    • Webex Support site gives instructions on how to join and also install the app from a PC, browser, mobile or phone only.

 Directions:

  • Open link provided on the Hunter Mill District Land Use and Zoning web page or the Hunter Mill District newsletter. (If you are not a subscriber, please send an email and put “Subscribe to Newsletter” in Subject line.)
  • You will be prompted to register with your email address and zip code.
  • You will then be prompted to join the meeting, which begins at 7 p.m.
  • If you need technical assistance, please use the chat function. The chat icon is located on the same row of icons as the microphone and video and looks like a bubble. Note – no public business can be conducted using the chat function, so only use for technical assistance.

How To Ask A Question:

At the appropriate time on the agenda, attendees will have the opportunity to ask Supervisor Alcorn or task force members a question.

  • You will be heard but will not have video capability. To ask a question:
    • Use the raise your hand feature. Open up the Participant window.
    • Click the Hand icon next to your name to raise your hand.  
    • Hunter Mill District staff will call on people with raised hands in the order that the hands were raised.
    • Your name will be called and when you hear a couple beeps, you will be unmuted and can ask your question. 
    • You will then be asked to click on your hand to “unraise” it and you will again be muted – this is to avoid echo and feedback due to the number of participants. If you have additional questions, we will go through the queue and repeat the process.
