Find a COVID-19 Vaccine

Everyone ages 6 months and older should get a 2024–2025 COVID-19 vaccine. People who are up to date with their COVID-19 vaccine have lower risk of severe illness. Learn more about staying up to date with your vaccines.
COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective.

COVID-19 vaccines are available in the Fairfax Health District. Here are ways to find a vaccine:

1Visit vaccines.gov to find a COVID-19 vaccine near you.

COVID-19 vaccines are widely available from many providers — including pharmacies, medical providers, and hospitals — across the Health District. Use vaccines.gov to search for locations that offer COVID-19 vaccines and then schedule directly with any provider. Some locations may also accept walk-ins.

2

Contact a Health Care Provider.

Health care providers around the Fairfax Health District are offering COVID-19 vaccines. Reach out to your provider for information and an appointment.

3Get a COVID-19 vaccine from the Health Department.

Residents who are unable to access a vaccine in the community may call the Fairfax County Call Center at 703-246-7100 to make an appointment at one of the Health Department’s district office clinics.

2024-2025 COVID-19/ Flu Vaccine Availability Update

Where can I go to get my flu and COVID-19 vaccines?

  • You can find vaccine locations and information about appointments through vaccines.gov. You may also check with your health care provider and local pharmacy

How much do flu and COVID-19 vaccines cost at the Health Department?

  • For those without private health insurance, the fee for a flu or COVID-19 vaccine is $25 for adults and $21.24 for children. For those with private health insurance, the fee for a flu vaccine is $30. COVID-19 vaccination is not available at the Health Department for those with private health insurance.

Do the flu and COVID-19 vaccines cost less if received at the Health Department?

  • Not necessarily. Most health insurance plans cover flu and COVID-19 vaccines, so there is no out-of-pocket cost. However, the Health Department is out-of-network for private health insurance and payment is required upon receipt of services. If you have private health insurance, you are encouraged to get the flu and COVID-19 vaccines at an in-network provider.

Can the Health Department provide free flu or COVID-19 vaccines at community events?

  • Since the COVID-19 vaccine is now commercially available, the Health Department no longer supports community vaccination events. Local pharmacies may be able to provide support for organizations that want to host a vaccination event for their employees or members. Contact a pharmacy or grocery store to ask about guidelines and requirements for these events. The Health Department also has information on which organizations can help. Please call 703-246-7100 if you need additional assistance.

When will the Health Department have the most updated flu and the COVID-19 available?

  • The Health Department expects to have the flu vaccine by September 23, 2024, and the COVID-19 vaccine is expected in early October. You can make an appointment to get a vaccine once the supplies are in stock. Please check the Health Department’s website for vaccine updates.
