CALL TO ORDER:

Commission Chair Crawford called the Wednesday, August 16, 2023, Commission Meeting to order at 7:30 P.M.

Approval of AgendaIt was moved by Commissioner Malik and seconded by Commissioner Shumaker that the August 16, 2023, Agenda be approved as presented.  The motion passed by unanimous vote.  

Approval of MinutesIt was moved by Commissioner Malik and seconded by Commissioner Asby that the August 2nd, 2023 minutes be approved as amended. The motion passed by majority vote, with Commissioner Hudson abstaining.

 

STAFF ISSUES: None.

 

 COMMISSION BUSINESS

 HRC# 2018146E/ EEOC# 2018-02441C-APPEAL - Cannon v. Itility, LLC:  It was moved by Commissioner Jimez and seconded by Commissioner Hudson that this complaint be returned to staff for further investigation on issue A, issue B and issue C. It passed by majority vote, with Commissioner Shumaker opposing on issue C.   

HRC# 2022069H/ HUD # 03-23-2434-8- FIR Yamin, Anibal J. vs. Legum and Norman Realty, Inc., et al.It was moved by Commissioner Malik and seconded by Commissioner Hudson that this complaint be dismissed due to insufficient evidence that a violation of the Fairfax County Fair Housing Act has occurred consistent with the recommendation of the motion passed by unanimous vote.

HRC# 2022072H – CONCILIATION - The Fairfax County Human Rights Commission v. UDR Arbor Park LLC: It was moved by Commissioner Ashby and seconded by Supinger that the conciliation agreement in this matter be accepted as presented. The motion passed by unanimous vote.

HRC# 2023008H- CONCILIATION - The Fairfax County Human Rights Commission v. UDR Texas Properties LLC: It was moved by Commissioner Malik and seconded by Commissioner Shumaker that the conciliation agreement in this matter be accepted as presented. The motion passed by unanimous vote.

 

COMMUNITY CONCERNS:  None.

PENDING BUSINESS: Commissioner Crawford informed the Commissioners that she spoke to former Commissioner Bell- Krasner regarding his tentative date to be put on the agenda for the September 20th commission meeting.

NEW BUSINESS:  None.
