CALL TO ORDER:

Commission Chair Crawford called the Wednesday, July 19, 2023, Commission Meeting to order at 7:30 P.M.

Approval of AgendaIt was moved by Commissioner Supinger and seconded by Commissioner Shumaker that the July 19, 2023, Agenda be approved as presented.  The motion passed by unanimous vote.  

Approval of MinutesIt was moved by Commissioner Solon and seconded by Commissioner Salinas that the June 21st 2023 minutes be approved as amended. The motion passed by unanimous vote.

STAFF ISSUES: Director Kenneth Saunders stated that he is currently trying to schedule commission training, he is looking at August 16th as a date. The commission agreed to the date and the office staff will send out a reminder to the commissioner.

 

COMMISSION BUSINESS

HRC# 2017095E- CONCILIATION FAILURES:  It was moved by Commissioner Salinas and seconded by Commissioner Shumaker that there is no probable cause to believe that a violation of the Human Rights Ordinance has occurred in this matter. The motion passed by unanimous vote.

HRC# 2017096E CONCILLIATION FAILURES -:  It was moved by Commissioner Shumaker and seconded by Commissioner Solon that there is no probable cause to believe that a violation of the Human Rights Ordinance has occurred in this matter. The motion passed by unanimous vote.

 

COMMUNITY CONCERNS:  None.

 

PENDING BUSINESS: Ms. Schlener explained to the commission that there were updates to the Bylaws, she pointed out the panel that would be needed to hold a commission meeting proposing to add four to the in-person panel to vote. The commissioners moved to approve the motion. It was approved as presented in the bylaws with majority vote with commissioner Solon abstaining.

 

NEW BUSINESS:  Commissioner Crawford updated the commissioners that former commissioner Krasner would like to give a brief on the Fairfax County  250th commission and would like to add it to next meetings agenda.

 

 The meeting adjourned at 8:45 P.M.
