CALL TO ORDER

Commission Chair Gloria Crawford called the Wednesday, July 22, 2020 Commission meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.

 

Approval of AgendaIt was moved by Commissioner Salinas and seconded by Commissioner Malik that the July 22, 2020 Agenda be approved as amended.  The motion passed by unanimous vote.

 

Approval of Minutes:  It was moved by Commissioner Salinas and seconded by Commissioner Bell-Krasner that the June 17, 2020 Minutes be approved as amended.  The motion passed by unanimous vote.

 

STAFF ISSUES: Director Ken Saunders updated the commission on the June Monthly Report.  The Staff Met the Balance Score Card Goals for the month.

 

COMMISSION BUSINESS

 

HRC #2020060H - CONCILIATION.  It was moved by Commissioner Salinas and seconded by Commissioner Alber that the Conciliation Agreement in this matter be accepted as presented.  The motion passed by unanimous vote.

 

HRC# 2020045H - CONCILIATION.  It was moved by Commissioner Salinas and seconded by Commissioner Alber that the Conciliation Agreement in this matter be accepted as presented.  The motion passed by unanimous vote.

 

HRC# 2020037H - FIR.  It was moved by Commissioner Salinas and seconded by Commissioner Hudson that this complaint be dismissed due to insufficient evidence that a violation of Human Rights Ordinance has occurred consistent with the recommendation of the OHREP.  The motion passed by unanimous vote.

 

 

COMMUNITY CONCERNS - Commission Bylaws.  Director Ken Saunders advised the Commissioners to review the Bylaws so that at the next Commission Meeting they can vote on the Bylaws.  Ken also suggested that the Commissioners should read the paragraph where it states that Three Commissioners will comprise a panel to vote on issues if we cannot secure a Quorum to conduct business.  Commissioner Conde requested that the Commissioners get enough advanced notice when a meeting is moved.  Commissioner Crawford mentioned that the office notifies the Commissioners so that they have sufficient notification of any changes.

 

PENDING BUISNESS - Commissioner Crawford informed the Commissioners that she received an email from the Virginia Association for Human Rights is asking for information about each of the Commissioners.  Commissioner Crawford will send the names and email addresses only.

 

NEW BUSINESS - There was no New Business.
