CALL TO ORDER

Commission Chair Gloria Crawford called the Wednesday, June 17, 2020 Commission meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.

Approval of AgendaIt was moved by Commissioner Malik and seconded by Commissioner Salinas that the June 17, 2020 agenda be approved as amended with the removal of case HRC# 2016119H.  The motion passed by unanimous vote.

Approval of Minutes:  It was moved by Commissioner Salinas and seconded by Commissioner Malik that the June 3, 2020 minutes be approved as amended.  The motion passed by unanimous vote.

 

STAFF ISSUES:  There were no staff issues.

 

COMMISSION BUSINESS

HRC #2020029H - CONCILIATION. It was moved by Commissioner Salinas and seconded by Commissioner Bell-Krasner that the Conciliation Agreement in this matter be accepted as presented.  The motion passed by unanimous vote.

HRC# 2020038H - CONCILIATION.  It was moved by Commissioner Salinas and seconded by Commissioner Solon that the Conciliation Agreement in this matter be accepted as presented.  The motion passed by unanimous vote.

HRC# 20200011H - FIRIt was moved by Commissioner Alber and seconded by Commissioner Malik that this complaint be dismissed due to insufficient evidence that a violation of Human Rights Ordinance has occurred consistent with the recommendation of the OHREP.  The motion passed by unanimous vote. 

HRC# 2019113H - FIR. - It was moved by Commissioner Conde and seconded by Commissioner Hudson that a finding of reasonable cause based on evidence sufficient to establish that a violation of the Human Rights Ordinance has occurred consistent with the recommendation of OHREP.  The motion passed by unanimous vote. 

HRC# 2020032H - FIR. - It was moved by Commissioner Solon and seconded by Commissioner Malik that a finding of reasonable cause based on evidence sufficient to establish that a violation of the Human Rights Ordinance has occurred consistent with the recommendation of OHREP.  The motion passed by unanimous vote. 

HRC# 2019027H - FIR. - It was moved by Commissioner Salinas and seconded by Commissioner Solon that a finding of reasonable cause based on evidence sufficient to establish that a violation of the Human Rights Ordinance has occurred consistent with the recommendation of OHREP.  The motion passed by unanimous vote. 

 

COMMUNITY CONCERNS - Vote to Endorse BOS statement on Recent Events.

It was moved by Commissioner Bell- Krasner and seconded by Commissioner Malik to endorse the Statement issued by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors on racial equality.  The motion passed by unanimous vote.

 

PENDING BUISNESS - Housing Task Force – Commissioner Crawford informed the Commissioners that due to Covid-19, the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) will extend the moratorium with respect to housing foreclosures and evictions.  Commissioner Crawford will forward the information to OHREP to distribute to the Commissioners.

NEW BUSINESS - There was no New Business.
