CALL TO ORDER

Commission Chair Crawford called the Wednesday, May 19, 2021 Commission Meeting to order at 7:30 P.M.

 

Approval of AgendaIt was moved by Commissioner Bell-Krasner and seconded by Commissioner Solon that the May 19, 2021 Agenda be approved as presented.  The motion passed by unanimous vote.

 

Approval of Minutes:  It was moved by Commissioner Solon and seconded by Commissioner Alber that the May 5, 2021 Minutes be approved as presented.  The motion passed by unanimous vote.

 

 

STAFF ISSUESThere were no Staff Issues. 

 

 

COMMISSION BUSINESS

 

HRC# 2019103H - FIR:  It was moved by Commissioner Alber and seconded by Commissioner Shumaker that this complaint be dismissed due to insufficient evidence that a violation of the Fair Housing Act has occurred consistent with the recommendation of OHREP.  The motion passed by unanimous vote.

 

HRC #2021012H - FIR:  It was moved by Commissioner Solon and seconded by Commissioner Crawford that this complaint be dismissed due to insufficient evidence that a violation of the Fair Housing Act has occurred consistent with the recommendation of OHREP.  The motion passed by unanimous vote.

 

HRC# 2016119H – ISSUANCE OF CHARGE:  It was moved by Commissioner Solon and seconded by Commissioner Shipman that the Commission issue a Charge in the matter of Brown, Rose v. Mr. Praveen Annavarpu and Ms. Suda M. Putla.  The motion passed by majority vote with Commissioner Shannon abstaining.

 

 

COMMUNITY CONCERNS:  Outreach Event – Director Ken Saunders reported to the Commissioners about the Listening Sessions that were mentioned in the previous meeting.  He updated that the next Listening Session date will be June 3rd at 3:00 and Supervisors Faust and Walkinshaw will be in attendance.  Supervisor Mary Soliman will send out the link with more information on this event to the Commissioners.

 

 

PENDING BUISNESSCommissioner Shannon informed the Commissioners that the town of Vienna is planning a presentation on civil rights and she will inform the Commissioners either at the next meeting or via email once she gets more information on this event.
