CALL TO ORDER:
Commission Chair Gloria Crawford called the Wednesday, November 17, 2021, Commission Meeting to order at 7:30 P.M.
Approval of Agenda: It was moved by Commissioner Salinas and seconded by Commissioner Solon that the November 17, 2021, Agenda be approved as presented. The motion passed by unanimous vote.
Approval of Minutes: It was moved by Commissioner Salinas and seconded by Commissioner Conde that the November 3, 2021, Minutes be approved as amended. The motion passed by majority vote, with Commissioner Crawford abstaining.
STAFF ISSUES: There were no Staff Issues.
COMMISSION BUSINESS:
HRC# 2021049H – FIR: It was moved by Commissioner Salinas and seconded by Commissioner Solon that this complaint be dismissed due to insufficient evidence that a violation of the Fairfax County Fair Housing Act has occurred consistent with the recommendation of OHREP. The motion passed by unanimous vote.
HRC# 2021035H -- FIR: It was moved by Commissioner Salinas and seconded by Commissioner Shumaker that this complaint be dismissed due to insufficient evidence that a violation of the Fairfax County Fair Housing Act has occurred consistent with the recommendation of OHREP. The motion passed by unanimous vote.
HRC # 2021036H- FIR: It was moved by Commissioner Conde and seconded by Commissioner Salinas that this complaint be dismissed due to insufficient evidence that a violation of the Fairfax County Fair Housing Act has occurred consistent with the recommendation of OHREP. The motion passed by unanimous vote.
COMMUNITY CONCERNS: Commissioner Crawford mentioned that both she and Commissioner Conde have participated in fair housing forum and attended several meetings in the community and on a number of occasions people are seeking more information about OHREP. Commissioner Crawford would like to discuss with the office how to provide more information to these individuals and their communities.
PENDING BUISNESS: Recognition in Honor of George Alber--Commissioner Solon mentioned that the office should send a plaque to the family of Commissioner Alber. Commissioner Salinas stated that value is added if the signatures of the Chair of the Board of Supervisors, the Commission Chair, and the OHREP Director are included. Director Saunders will update the Commissioners with respect to the process for accomplishing this.
