CALL TO ORDER:
Commission Vice-Chair Shahid Malik called the Wednesday, November 3, 2021, Commission Meeting to order at 7:30 P.M.
Approval of Agenda: It was moved by Commissioner Solon and seconded by Commissioner Bell-Krasner that the November 3, 2021 Agenda be approved as presented. The motion passed by unanimous vote.
Approval of Minutes: It was moved by Commissioner Salinas and seconded by Commissioner Solon that the October 20, 2021 Minutes be approved as presented. The motion passed by unanimous vote.
STAFF ISSUES: The Commissioners were provided with the September Monthly Reports.
COMMISSION BUSINESS:
HRC# 2019065E – APPEAL: It was moved by Commissioner Salinas and seconded by Commissioner Conde that the staff finding be overturned for the reason that applications for promotions were not offered to the Complainant. The motion passed by majority vote with Commissioner Hudson and Commissioner Shumaker opposing.
HRC# 2018006E – Memo (APPEAL UPDATE): It was moved by Commissioner Salinas and seconded by Commissioner Bell-Krasner that the staff findings be upheld, and this matter be dismissed due to no cause finding. The motion passed by majority vote with Commissioners Solon, Bell- Krasner, and Conde abstaining.
COMMUNITY CONCERNS: There were no Community Concerns.
PENDING BUISNESS: The matter of Recognition in Memory of George Alber was tabled.
NEW BUSINESS: Election of Commission Officers – At the last meeting on October 20, 2021, Commissioner Crawford was nominated as Commission Chair, Commissioner Malik was nominated as Commission Vice-Chair, and Commissioner Bell-Krasner was nominated as Commission Secretary. It was moved by Commissioner Solon and seconded by Commissioner Shumaker that the nominated Commissioners be elected to the offices for which they were nominated. The motion passed by unanimous vote.
