Each of the graphics below includes a set of six indicators to help you evaluate different classes and types of vehicles. The figures on this page reflect 2020/2021 vehicle models and were sourced from a Consumer Reports study on electric vehicle ownership costs as well as FuelEconomy.gov.
Upfront Cost: The average sticker price for a new vehicle in the specified category.
Annual Fuel Cost: The average annual cost to fuel a new vehicle in the specified category.
Range: The distance a new vehicle in the specified category can drive on a full charge or a full tank of gas.
Fuel Economy: The distance a new vehicle in the specified category can travel per unit of energy (miles per gallon equivalent or miles per gallon).
Five-Year Fuel Save/Spend: The amount of money an owner would spend or save on fuel over a five year period, as compared to an average new vehicle.
Tailpipe Emissions: The amount of carbon dioxide equivalent emitted by a new vehicle in the specified class, measured in metric tons.
